Overlooking the Caribbean Sea, in the south-east of the Dominican Republic, Bayahibe is a small village in the province of La Altagracia.
Santo Domingo, capital of the nation, is located about 100 km away, while the village of Altos de Chavon, became famous for being the setting for several films, including King Kong, Rambo 2 and Apocalypse Now, is less 30 km.
You can get to the airport by flying Bayahibe La Romana, 30 km away, or at the international airport of Santo Domingo, Las Americas, about 150 km, and from there to rent a car or use public transport available.
The economy of Bayahibe is based around fishing and tourism, tourist accommodations, mostly family-run, are in perfect harmony with the environment, where there are still the old traditions.
