Where is Brisbane
Brisbane, capital of Queensland and Australia’s third largest city by population, is located on the same river, at a distance of about 40 km from Moreton Bay on the Pacific Ocean, between the beautiful beaches of the Gold Coast to the south and the Sunshine Coast north, within easy reach of Brisbane. The city is named after Sir Thomas Brisbane, governor of the state of New South Wales, 1821-1825.
When the state of Queensland became independent Brisbane became its capital. The settlement of the early settlers in Brisbane dates from 1842, a few years after the closure of a penal colony that was located in the area where the city stands today.
What to do in Brisbane
