The island of Cavoli is located along the southeast coast of Sardinia, in front of Capo Carbonara, is part of the municipality of Villasimius in the province of Cagliari.
The island of granitic has significant value nature and geology, is covered with Mediterranean vegetation, has a rugged coastline with beaches. On the top of the island, 40 meters above sea level, is a lighthouse that was built around 1856 by including a Spanish lookout tower dating from the late sixteenth century. The lighthouse is used by the University of Cagliari for scientific purposes.
The sea surrounding the island is included in ‘marine protected area of Capo Carbonara. On the sea bed of cabbage is a statue representing the Madonna of the sinking, dedicated to Our Lady of Bonaria, patroness of Sardinia and protector of sailors, is celebrated every year in July.
The coasts of the island are characterized by very rugged coves small size, surrounded by towering walls of granite rock.
