Geography of the Caribbean

The Caribbean Sea, one of the largest seas of the world, is a vast aerial part of the Atlantic Ocean between the islands of the Greater and Lesser Antilles, South America, the Panama Canal and Central America.
The point where it reaches the maximum depth is located off the island of Cayman, located between Cuba and Jamaica, where they touched the 7,686 meters below sea level. The islands and continental countries affected by this sea were once inhabited by the people of the Caribbean from which is derived the name Caribbean.
The Yucatan Channel connects the Caribbean Sea to the Gulf of Mexico with a passage of 190 km. Many gulfs and bays, scattered mainly along the coast of South America, including the Gulf of Venezuela, the Gulf of Gonave, the Gulf of Darien, Golfo de los Mosquitos and Gulf of Honduras.
Being easily navigable throughout the year the Caribbean Sea is the main shipping route for vessels bound for the countries of South America. The semi-tropical climate, crystal clear waters and seabed with reef favor tourism that goes for most islands. The summer months are characterized by frequent hurricanes that often destructive consequences.

Barbados has a tropical climate and constantly affected by the equatorial winds.
The Cayman Islands comprise three islands of Grand Cayman, Little Cayman and Cayman Brac, situated in the Caribbean Sea south of Cuba and are a British colony with the capital George Town.
The most famous beach is the Seven Mile Beach which includes seven miles of fine white sand and is located on the island of Grand Cayman in the vicinity of George Town.
