Places to Visit at Noli

Noli is a town of about 3000 inhabitants located in Liguria on the Italian Riviera di Ponente in an inlet between cape Noli at the mouth of the stream Luminella and the island of Bergeggi. It ‘an ancient Roman town center which was also, according Byzantine domination of the Lombards and the Franks.

The historical center shows a front porch and was originally a fishing type, similar to the porch of Sottoripa for Genoa. The medieval palace of the City, with its tower, is connected to the porch. Among the religious buildings, worth noting is the Cathedral of St. Paragorio, built over an early Christian church with three naves.

Along the left side is a porch of 1400, with some medieval tombs. Inside are a beautiful wooden crucifix, a wooden chair in 1200 and fourteenth-century frescoes of excellent workmanship.

The Cathedral of St. Peter, built in 1200 and remodeled in 1600, has a very beautiful altar dating back to 1679 and a bishop’s chair in 1500. Other churches are the San Michele Arcangelo and Santa Margherita.
Noli Attractions

Among the type architectures civil stand the Town Hall, Port Papone and the Tower of the Four Corners. Among the fortifications we instead Ursino Castle in 1100, the remains of the ancient walls of the Hermitage and the Fortress of Capo Noli.

In the area there are also many paths that lead up, including recommended what brings on top of Capo Noli, about a thousand meters above sea level, from where you can admire a beautiful view. Then there is the ‘plateau of Manie, significant from the point of view of nature, which extends between Noli and Finale Ligure, formed by a large pine forest tracts planted with vines.

Lastly, an archaeological site of the Neolithic Age, located inside a huge natural rock formation, near the place called Le Manie.
