This quiet town, located in the north-eastern Slovenia in the region of Podravje, has ancient origins that are lost in the stone age while having the city reached its peak during the Roman era.
Places to visit in Ptuj
There are many monuments and interesting places to visit including the Minoritski samostan, which was the convent of Minoriti dating from 1280 where you will find a library with thousands of medieval books. The Mestna Hisa, in neo-Gothic style, is the seat of the Town Hall, while Mestni stolp is the Civic Tower of 1556 that is considered the most interesting monument in the center of Ptuj.
Ptujski grad is the city castle built between 1200 and 1300 on the hill above the city where they were discovered the prehistoric remains. Noteworthy are the portico of the castle with a double gallery that opens onto the courtyard and the ancient tower West dating back to the time before the rest of the building.
The spa is renowned for its healing properties of water mineral, indicated especially for rheumatic diseases and post-operative periods, has a water park resort.
