Puerto de la Cruz is located on the northern coast of Tenerife, the largest island of the Canary Islands, popular for holidays. The beautiful resort, situated on the coast of the fertile Orotava Valley at the foot of the volcano Teide, was chosen by the British in the late 1800s as a tourist destination, and over time has developed considerably in this sense, attracting an important flow of tourists throughout the year year, mainly thanks to the mild climate.

What to see in Puerto de la Cruz

It is located on the shores of the complex of pools of Lake Martianez, beautiful salt water pools, designed by the artist Cesar Manrique in Lanzarote. One of the main attractions of Puerto de la Cruz is the park, where you can admire a dolphinarium, an aquarium and a zoo where the animals can move freely and where there is the largest collection of parrots in the world.

Lovers of tropical plants is recommended to visit the botanical garden of the city. In the well-preserved old town, which extends around the Plaza de El Charco, you notice the architectural characteristics of Miranda House, Casa de la Aduana, dell ‘hotel Marquesa and religious structures of the Church de la Pena de Francia and’ hermitage San Telmo. The most famous festivals of Puerto de la Cruz Carnival and festivities that take place during the month of July.
