Last August I and my new wife have made our honeymoon in the United States of America undertaking the coast to coast that we really liked. We left New York where we visited the famous island of Manhattan, the town hall, on Wall Street, the Brooklyn Bridge, Times Square, Broadway theaters, Central Park, the Metropolitan Museum and the Metropolitan Opera, the cathedral Saint Patrick, the most famous skyscrapers including the Empire State Building and the UN building, all the most popular neighborhoods including SoHo, Chinatown, Little Italy, Greenwich Village, Midtown, Harlem.
Leaving New York we head to Niagara Falls, a city belonging to the State of New York that develops on the American side of the Niagara River at the Iguaçu Falls, crossing the nice town of Ithaca on Lake Cayuga. We decided then to cross over into Canada, another huge state of North America, to cross the heart of the Great Lakes region.
The Great Lakes are five freshwater lakes located in ‘North America which by extension are among the largest in the world so that they represent as an inland sea geographically located between the United States and Canada. These lakes are Lake Superior, Lake Michigan, Lake Huron, Lake Erie, Lake Ontario. After we take the direction of Detroit and then get to Chicago by Lake Michigan.
Downtown Detroit has a great variety of architectural styles where the past meets the present through the fusion of art deco skyscrapers with postmodern Comerica Tower at the Renaissance Center, which together form the symbol of the city. Chicago is a multiethnic city and an important financial center with many industries.
Crossing the plains of the Midwest cut from the Mississippi and the Missouri, we come to Sturgis in South Dakota. We continue to Denver along the highest road in the world through several passages on the Rocky Mountains to well over 3 700 meters above sea level. Denver, capital of Colorado, located in the plains located slightly to the east of the Rocky Mountains, which offer the city a background of great beauty looking westward.
The central district of Denver is located on the east bank of the South Platte River near the confluence with Cherry Creek. The splendor of mountains covered with magnificent forests of Colorado still keeps us company for a few hundred miles to Durango where we visit the Mesa Verde National Park.
Without this change completely landscape that changes color from green to red desert of Utah. Utah is a state located in the western region of the Rocky Mountains with capital Salt Lake City.
In the Indian Coutry are many attractions to see including stone arches consumed by the wind, the Grand Canyon, Lake Powell, the Valley of the Gods and Monument Valley. Along the famous route 66 we come to Las Vegas with its night attractions characterized by twinkling lights.
Through Death Valley in California where we arrive we visit the famous parks of the Sierra Nevada, including Yosemite National Park and Sequoia National Park. At the center of the State of California, we visit the Central Valley with a side of coastal mountains to the west, the Sierra Nevada to the east, with the Falls Range in the north and the Tehachapi Mountains in the south.
Without this we head to San Francisco where we stay two days waiting for the departure for the return. San Francisco is a cosmopolitan and tolerant, with a particular architectural style mix of Victorian and modern which reminded us very few European cities.
